I use a couple of different software packages to control an Icom PCR-100. I would like to be able to hear the audio from the scanner using a remote desktop connection - just for my own use. I have read the sticky hear but the whole process seems very complicated. Is there a simplified piece of software out there that will allow me to do this? My remote desktop connection is otherwise working well. I can control the PCR-100 but not hear the audio. I can hear audio from other sources. A google search for this same issue resulted in finding three instances of the same question none of which had responses.

Hi Jim:

I believe you are running into a known "limitation" with Windows RDP. It's a great free utility for remote access, but it won't capture the audio from your scanner. It will send the audio from other sources as you have seen.

For remote access with sound from my scanners, I use the following:

1) LogMeIn Pro (scanner independent)
2) Win500 (GRE scanners)
3) Proscan (Uniden scanners)

All of these have a cost, but they are well worth it in my opinion. I couldn't live without remote access to my scanners "with" sound :)

Jim,

If this is only for you, then use Skype. Set it to auto answer and "call-in" anytime you want to listen.

Thanks for the responses. I use the free version of LogMeIn. I'll look at the pay version and I'll take a look at Skpe too.
