Hello,

Can anyone list scanners that have a remote head? My car is small and I need to mount under the seat and want to weight my options.

Thanks!

The only scanners with a "true" remote head are Whistler's WS1095, WS1098, and TRX-2.

There is a work-around thread in the Uniden forum on what it takes to make the (now discontinued) RH96 remote head work on the BCD996P2, but the RH96 has been discontinued for quite a while.

The Icom ICR1500/2500 have a small remote head and scans fairly quick compared to other Icoms but I think it is discontinued now.
I would go with a Siren app and BCD536 but would probably get a used second hand Android device as newer versions seems to have issues with the app. If you don't have any recording session running on the 536 it would probably be safe to connect it to ignition power, as long as you set it up the way you want it and then manually power it down to save the settings to the SD card.

What exactly are you looking to scan? If trunking isn't in that list you might want to consider a ham transceiver that meets your frequency requirements. Otherwise, the above mentioned TRX-2modified RH-96 are your only options. You could also consider a small Windows tablet running remote software.

There are a couple options or using a phone/tablet as a remote control, which would be a small mount. You can use an external speaker, if needed.
