Yes it's a very cute design. Unfortunately, it would also be very expensive to produce. By using the existing 996/15 face plate and layout Uniden is saving a lot of money. That in turn allows them to sell the remote head at a reasonable price and still make money. If it's too expensive to produce Uniden won't produce it.
