has anyone every attempted and successfully remote connected the face of the 996 series scanners. I have not removed mine yet to see what the cable is from the face to the rest of the scanner. NOT Using the elusive and "Proper" kit

if i remember correctly there are about five or six small ribbon cables that go between the head and the body, but i think if you took your time it could be done if you could get the connectors. om sure it would be a dawn-ting task.
i haven't taken it apart yet?? if it is those press fit connectons most likely wont try it as I am not that critical in remote but i look down prob too much
