Hello All -

I've had the WS-1098 for all of a week and it's given me no end of frustration. I'm still in the thirty day period with Amazon and I'm really tempted to place it back into its cardboard coffin (it came DOA) and sent it back to Amazon. I've spent way to much time fighting with this scanners funky idiosyncrasies; all of which involve the sd card, which I replaced.

This one IS my fault - I finally managed to get specific to me frequencies into the scanner. Many of which I don't want. I would like to bring the data from the 1098 into EZ Scan, make corrections and then reinstall the changes (I hope) into the scanner. How to do?

Angi

Amazon is going to get a review!

Like with anything new, patience is critical to success. We've all been there and felt the same way at least once (probably more than once).

I'm assuming you've programmed these frequencies using EZ Scan - is that correct?

Before trying to copy to the PC, let's check on something.

By default, I believe EZ Scan will only show you basic tabs of options. In order to see more details of the programming in the folder(s), you need to enable options under the Advanced menu:

  • Show Conventional Frequencies Tab
  • Show Trunked Radio Systems Tab

Once enabled, you should be able to see the programming details in EZ Scan.

Now, to use EZ Scan to read the data on the SD card back into EZ Scan in a very similar fashion to writing to it:

  • connect the radio via the USB cable or insert the SD card into your PC
  • in EZ Scan, select Copy Configuration from Scanner Memory/SD Card from the Scanner/SD Card menu

You'll get a pop-up warning saying this process will overwrite (the selected) data on your PC.

Then, you'll be asked to select a removable drive - there's probably only one - select the SD card drive in the dialog box.

Next, you'll be presented with a list of "folders" (CDAT) to copy onto your PC (Note: there can be up to 200 of these folders that represent different configurations that you've created). If you're new at this, chances are you'll only have one.

Follow the prompts and the data will be copied onto your PC and viewable in EZ Scan.
