REMS/RAA: Trouble hearing traffic f/ambulances to dispatch

I have: EMS1, EMS2, RAA Primary, RAA Secondary, and RAA Tactical programmed into my Pro-96 but have only been hearing traffic on EMS1.

For example, the dispatcher will ask for a unit's location, I either hear nothing or brief garbled noise in response, the dispatcher then acknowledges their traffic so obviously something is being transmitted back.

Do I need to plug in another talkgroup? I understand these talkgroups are patches into Richmond's ASTRO system and that RAA actually uses a UHF system around 460 MHz?

The actual frequency as you said for RAA is UHF. Its 453.975 with a tone of 67.0. Try programming that in and see if the audio is better on that. When I was down in Richmond last month the audio quality on the patch wasnt great.

Try 460.925, pl. 192.8, ch. 2. Using what seems like a 1KW transmitter you will have no difficulty in hearing them.

RAA Dispatch is simulcast on REMS1. Not sure of the TG off the top of my head, but when I run M/A into the city, we switch over to REMS1 to communicate with RAA folks and can hear all their traffic.
