Does Reno Fire still use a VHF or UHF frequency to page out the stations? I know there’s an alert tone on Reno RED but there should be some sort of tone to set off the pagers/plectron in the stationhouse. Tonight they are/were having radio problems and I would hear the alert tone followed by the call on RED and then about a minute later the engine would key up asking if there was a call because all they heard were tones with no voice. That led me to believe that there is a separate page-out frequency (perhaps the old frequency they had before they went 800). I looked for all of the frequencies belonging to KOF356 because up until about a year ago they would have to announce their ID before paging (“KOF356 engine 18 to a medical emergency, ……, KOF356 clear). I put all frequencies belonging to KOF356 in the other scanner and still hear alert tones and calls on RED but none of the frequencies key up so they must not be the correct ones. As I type this message I remember that they also had KLX865 (or something rhyming with that) so I’ll try those. If anyone has the page-out frequency PLEASE let me know. I love to hear the tones rather than the alert beep (especially on multi-station pages, i.e. structure fires and extrications).

Austin,

I still hear a lot of activity on the old Truckee Meadows freqs. Especially when there is talk between NDF-BLM-Careflight-Carson-Storey and other misc interagency.

Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District

Frequency License Type Description Mode
158.74500 KYX265 BM TM Main FM
158.94000 KNBB762 BM TM South FM
158.88000 KNBB761 BM TM North FM
458.75000 KOF356 M TM North 2 FM
458.75000 KOF356 M TM North 3 FM

TM North's have been quite for me but you indicate that those are still in use. But then again I don't get into Reno much. I've not heard of KLX865, could that be KYX265 TM-Main?

Yeah I know, but those are for county calls. I was looking for a page-out channel for RFD where they actually set the tones off, rather than just the alert tone on RFD RED. For example, in Palm Beach County, Florida (I used to live there before I moved here), fire rescue is on the public safety 800 system. The dispatch channel is like RFD RED and just sets off a beep followed by the call, however on a separate conventional frequency (453.150); you actually hear the tones that set off the plectrons. I was wondering if Reno had a frequency like that.

Thanks,
-Austin

Ok these are ancient freqs. I have no idea if they are still in use yet or not but maybe this will help you out. Heck I don't even remember where I got them from .

This info is supplied as is - no warranty is expressed or implied. ;)

However if they work out for you please submit them. Again I'm not in Reno enough to check these out.

Reno Red 453.75
Reno Orange 453.05
Reno Gold 453.55
Airport Fire 453.45

I'm guessing these are the old freqs and maybe what is still being used for pageout.

???????????????????????????????????

YMMV
