We are now offering a repair program for the PSR-800.

The cost of the repair program is the same as our Whistler out-of-warranty scanner repair - $120.

If you are interested in having a PSR-800 repaired, please contact our customer service department at 866.923.8719.

Would that include physical cosmetics such as replacing the case and buttons? Would this include converting to a WS1088 if the firmware is still of the online version?

Let me ask this: Is there a Do's and Don'ts repair guide for what that fee includes?

Thanks in advance

Yes, it would repair anything that is currently not functioning or in need of replacement.
i.e. replacing the case if it is cracked or replacing the buttons.

I will see if I can get you a list of what is repairable, etc. but it may take me a bit.

Can it be repaired at the
same time is converted for the same $120 fee?

From a Whistler WS1080 User Guide found online, I would assume the offer is conditional along the same lines.

Service Out Of Warranty
Units will be repaired at “out of warranty” service rates
when:
• The unit’s original warranty has expired.
• A dated proof of purchase is not supplied.
• The unit has been returned without its serial number.
• The unit has been misused, abused, modified, installed
improperly, or had its housing removed.

The minimum out of warranty service fee for your Whistler
Scanner is $120.00 (U.S.). If you require out of warranty service,
please return your unit as outlined in the section “Service Under
Warranty” along with a cashier’s check or money order in the
amount of $120.00. Payment may also be made by MasterCard,
VISA or American Express. Personal checks are not accepted.
In the event repairs cannot be covered by the minimum
service fee, you will be contacted by a Whistler technical
service specialist who will outline options available to you.

IMPORTANT: When returning your unit for service, be
certain to include a daytime telephone number and an
email address (if applicable).

This would make sense if they are treating you like a Whistler customer they would effectively fix your scanner and bring it up to the same as the current WS1080 with DMR but I guess we will have to wait for Wendy's official response.

This could be interesting for me if my modified PSR-800 with the online non-official firmware can have its worn-out casing replaced and at the same time professionally and officially flashed by Whistler for a single repair fee. :)
Maybe a long stretch?

Hi -
Yes, the repair fee will include the upgrade for $120.

For the repair option, please contact customer service to process the repair and it will upgraded while it is in the shop.

Thanks!

Ok I will call and confirm that they will replace my uber-worn-out case with a new one. Glad the repair fee includes the upgrade as well! Thanks Wendy!

From the above Wendy mentions if the case is cracked. Not sure a worn case constitutes a case change as it is not broken but you would have to check with Wendy. I think the intent is a radio that no longer functions correctly, bad keypad, bad display, not receiving or receiving poorly, etc..etc...

The case is missing the beltclip track which was broken however all buttons are functional so I guess I need to go over these details with them before I move forward with this.

Yes, and may I have a shipping discount as I plan to drive the radio up myself, so you can also wash and wax my car, and change the oil, for same $120. And ohh, can I sleep on your couch while I wait? Whats for dinner?

Sheesh....No wonder the scanner business is down to two companies!

Oh my god, that really is customer service. I hope Wendy hasn't seen all the Whistler bashing threads from the weekend.

True; I don't even have a PSR800, but next week if I root around in the trash behind the factory, with some spit and duct tape I will have a passable one to get refreshed for $120!

HI ecarvalho - just give our customer service a call and they can walk you through the repair.
If the belt clip track is broken that would be a new case repair.
