BCD436HP/BCD536HP: Repair Question

So long story short my son wrecked the USB port on my scanner. I rely on that for keeping my scanner powered on at all times and my feed going. Would repair be an option here? Are there even people who do that type of thing anymore that would not end up costing more than the actual scanner? To say I am frustrated is an understatement but I cant really get mad at him. Just exploring my options now.
