I am having issues with what I believe is either loose or broken connections in my PRO 97. The base of the antenna (where the antenna hooks into the radio) has become very loose and can be wiggled back and forth quite a bit. At the same time I noticed this, I have noticed a significant loss in reception with the radio (although far from a complete loss of reception). A couple of questions relating to this issue:
1. Is there anything simple I can do to try to fix this issue?
2. Assuming the answer to #1 is a no, does anyone on here have any recommendations of places to take the scanner to be looked at and fixed in the St. Louis area (preferably North County or St. Charles County)? The scanner is over 1 1/2 years old, and thus outside of the warranty period (which I believe is 1 year).

Thanks!

PS I understand a significant portion of this post would belong in a different forum, but my primary purpose is locating a local repair place that is recommended by fellow scanner users. That is why I have posted this in the Missouri forum.

You can fix it!

This has been reported here several times with the 97 as well as other models. Carefully take the case apart to expose the antenna's internal connection. The BNC female hub mounts with a nut onto a threaded section on the inside of the case, tightening this nut up (use a dot of locktight or nail polish) will take the wiggle out of the mount (the cause of the next problem to check). The partial loss of reception is most likely due to the wiggling antenna mount causing the center conductor from the BNC to crack/break loose from it's soldered connection to the circuit board. Resoldering this attachment should return the radio's reception back to normal. Take your time and be careful with the soldering iron. Good luck!
