• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello there everyone. This is my first time posting on this forum.

I've been trying to program a repeater into my BaoFeng UV-5R with no luck each time.
I found this repeater in my area: Syosset, , 447.975, WB2CYN Repeater

What should I type into CHIRP in order to be able to use this repeater (Offset, tone, etc.)

Thanks for your help!

I made the same mistake when attempting to get into a 420 MHz repeater using the 144 MHz standard offset. I was quite excited when I made my first 420 MHz contact on a repeater, after quite some time of wondering why I wasn't making it in. I could hear fine. The offset made all the difference!

Chirp is a fine application for programming your UV. I have several HT's, and it helps to get them all programmed the same.

When I keyed 447.97500 into CHIRP, it automatically set Duplex="-" and Offset="5.00000".

I'm sorry to bump my old thread, but I'm still having problems using this repeater.

I send a transmission with one of my radios, I get the response tone from the repeater on both radios, but I cannot hear my transmission on the other radio. It doesn't pick up a signal from the repeater until after I stop transmitting on the other radio, but that signal I get after ending the transmission on the radio is just white noise.

Here is the configuration in CHIRP:

You cannot listen to your transmissions through a repeater with a close by monitor receiver. The very strong (because of its closeness) and off-frequency transmission overloads the receiver causing it to be "deaf" until the transmission goes away.
