• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Good-day,

I replaced the RF connector because the center pins was broken, now the radio display is stuck on zone C and the top control A, B, and C switch has no effect, also the clear secure switch display is stuck on secure, with it's switch is not changing state either, and finally the programming for the channel selector switch does not display the data in the code plug setup. I have checked the cabling and I am fairly certain it is correctly re-installed. Whatever help you could provide would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

HTH the center pin break on RF connector. I would suggest maybe taking it back apart and start looking at the flex cables and the connector's for any damage between boards. Plenty of Light and Magnification. It may be a cheap simple fix. If anything is damaged you got an expensive fix or paperweight.

Sir/Madam, while I am new to Motorola equipment, and digital radio networks in general, I do have a some experience in troubleshooting electronics, so I ordered the RF connectors because it seemed to be a simple fix. Now I am on the troubleshooting learning curve, without it appears any detailed tech support. Motorola doesn't really support repairs to their radios. So here I am, in search of solutions. This all started because the person I replaced didn't have much knowledge of test equipment, and hooked up about six radios incorrectly to the 8800SX before realizing they had the wrong test fixture and broke the center pin on all those RF connectors. I agree with your reply, always start with the most obvious first. I will check for correct reassembly of all the boards and cables. If everything is hooked up properly, does anyone know of a source that can provide more information on troubleshooting APX800EX radios? Thanks for your response!
