Replacement parts for the Pro-83?

About two years ago I bought a Pro-83. I used it for a long time without a proper case for it. It still works well, but by now, it has quite a few noticeable scratches in the paint. Does anybody know if it is possible to order new plastic pieces for the front and back any maybe a new keypad? Anybody know of a price for those pieces? Im proud to say that I have since kept my other scanners in better condidion , but I'd like to have this one look new again.

If you call radio shack at 1-800-843-7422 you will be able to order any piece for your radio you'd like, including the keypad. I dont know what the prices are. I cant imagine they'd be that expensive though.

Dont go to a store to order the parts....I HIGHLY recomend calling instead. I dont even know if you can order parts from a store.

You can order parts through the store, but to be honest, most employees don't know how to. Those that do know how to usually don't know how to look it up online to see what parts are available and the RSU #'s and prices, and they end up calling the order center to ask for the part numbers.

If anyone ever wants to know what parts are available, just go to a store and tell the associate to go to Answers Online > Products > RSU Lookup, and type in the SKU # for the scanner you are wanting to order parts for. Then ask them to print it out for you.

Before you replace parts check prices. You may be better off buying a new radio for 69.97 while the're still out in stores. Austin

Yeah, I wanted to check the prices of parts for another scanner a year ago and it must have taken the employee about half an hour to even figure out how to look it up.

I'll give it a couple of days and see if anybody here can come up with prices. If not, It looks like I'll either call them or visit the local store.
