The story so far:
I have an Icom 706Gmk2 that I want to install in the family car (2000 Saturn LW2). After much reading and research, I thought I could run the electrical wiring myself. Well, after doing what felt like a jury-rigged job (ran the wire out of the top of the hood and through the door, and I still didn't find a way to attach the negative lead without bolting it to the frame, arrgh!), and tearing it back out in the middle of the night last night, I have decided that the best thing to do is take it to a professional and have them run the DC cable for me.
My question is: has anyone had a good experience with a local installation specialist? I'm thinking that maybe a pro audio installer could do it? I'm okay with installing the rig itself, it's only the power cable that I want installed, preferably through a grommeted hole in the firewall. I'm thinking that should cost something in the $25-50 range?
