Often I see copters from the 129th at Moffett flying around the Bay Area but have only heard them once outside of the usual ATC frequencies, and this was during an air drop practice at Moffett and they used a 46 Mhz FM freq. I have heard no activity on these published frequencies (279.0, 341.2,390.9). I do hear activity on 349.4, but these are aircraft talking to Travis Ops, not Moffett. Any info on operational freqs (non ATC) would be appreciated.

The freqs listed under "Base Operations" do not seem to be valid. I haven't heard a peep on these at all over the last few years. The copters and C130s must have some frequency they talk to ops on and to each other.

5711USB I know carries some ops traffic

New Ops Freq

Thanks to a poster in the Military Forum, I was able to confirm that the 129th at Moffett uses 378.6 for "Rescue Ops" as opposed to 390.9. Also, heard parachute activity on 251.9 from a Moffett C-130. Heard Moffett helos on 46.80 FM as well.

In the last decade the milair band was restructured to make room for P25 digital trunking systems between 380 MHz-406 MHz. As a result all the old AM milair frequencies above 380 MHz were moved. For what it's worth, if you see an ops frequency above 380 MHz again, it's outdated and no longer in use. US Coast Guard air ops primary used to be in the 380s, and it got moved as well.

Hi,

I have found it hard to get information on this part of the band.

I read in an internet artilcle it is a good idea to keep the old Coast Guard frequencies like 381.800 in the scanner and its other 2 as the other stated he had reports the Coast Guard will still use them when they train.

I did not find out about there new UHF air freq until I was on BART with a Coat Guard person and I asked him what happened to the 381.8 as had not heard anything in a long time.

He told me what happened and gave me their new frequency.

They now seem to use 160 and 400 MHz P-25.

Now the scanner cuts the sound out when they go scrambled I can now keep those frequencies in my radios.
========================
One strange thing I nocticed was that the ground were TX eyncriped on the channel and the people in the air were TX in the clear. Maybe it was just a mistake. I assume just over looking pushing a button would cause this.

Moffett Field has a listing for 390.000 or 390.900 as AM which I believe is part of their rescue unit.

I have not heard it in a very long time.

I have been told they still do have some AM [very few] freq in the 380 to 400 MHz area.

As said before, anything above 380 is gone. You won't hear anything except installation trunked systems.

Hi,

Thanks for getting back to me.

I see the 390 frequency listed.

Has it been changed to something else and if you know I would like to know too.

I live in Menlo Park 36 miles South of San Francisco and 20 miles North of San Jose.

Are there any of these new systems in the 380 to 400 MHz band I can pick up.

Travis seems to have some but I live to far from there.
===========================
I not really use to the forms and how to find what I want on the site.

Do you know how to get to one that would have Military frequencies for planes and the Coast Guard?

Thanks for getting back to me.

Best Regards
Sincerely,
Ted

It's not listed in the database anymore so I'm not sure where you're seeing it "listed" other than in this thread.
