To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

RES 5.8.30-scan lists not saving

I'm currently in the process of programming 2 KNG2-P800 portables. For some strange reason the scan lists aren't saving (referring specifically to the priority 1 and 2 drop downs)-screen shots uploaded for reference. 5.8.30 is the RES version I've been using since late summer. I programmed a couple of radios back in August and had zero issues getting the scan lists to save. Anyone else having the same issue? Weird, but definitely a royal P.I.T.A.

I am having some issues currently in programming some BKR9000's. I am using RES 5.8.30 as well. I haven't experienced the Priority Channel issue you are but I am having issues with other things like the volume settings (max and min), some channel labels would switch around to other channels in a zone, RX/TX freqs. would not hold and would change to the default base freq. of 136.000 after I wrote to the radio. I also noticed the drop down menu for the selectable power option only lists 0.5W, no other option. It should go from 0.5 to 6.0 W on the BKR9000. I am also having issues with the Voice Announcement feature. Some announcements sound fine when some are garbled. Now the Voice Announcement feature is not working at all on the radios. IDK, maybe it is my equipment, maybe it is the software. Waiting to hear back from my dealer and BK on these issues.

Upgrading to .31 should fix the selectable power issue. Not sure about the others.

Just a guess, as I don't have my equipment in front of me, but do you have dual mode scan enabled? Maybe it's not and that's messing up your scan list setting, assuming you have a mix of trunked and conventional channels set to scan.

You should probably upgrade to .31 as well, if anything, because there are known issues with .30 related to 7/800.

I don't have dual mode scan enabled, nor do I have any conventional programmed. Only trunked. I checked the BK service portal, and I don't see 5.8.31.

I don’t see software version 5.8.31 on BK’s website.

I'd suggest asking your dealer about it. Not sure why it's not showing up for you.

Multi-quote is being weird so I'll have to reply up here... I can maybe mess with the scan list when back in the office next week, but I'd never recommend worrying about issues like that if there's a new sw version out. The question is why isn't it available for you and does it fix the issue you're seeing.

I'll reach out to them (dealer) to see why .31 isn't showing as available.

I was able to resolve the issue by manually setting up scan lists in each radio. There must be a glitch somewhere in RES. Hopefully they get that ironed out in 5.8.31.
