Hi all,
This is my second post and I want to reiterate the thanks I posted on my other thread; you people are a friendly bunch.
I'm almost in possession of a BR330T imported from the US into the UK. This will be my first scanner for somebody completely new to the hobby (home cinema and PC's are my main hobby area but they do little to help with the confusing world of scanning!)
I read an article in a magazine here called Monitoring Monthly that had a write up on using Butel's software and the 396. The 330 isn't mentioned but I'm led to believe it is pretty much the same as the 396 but without digital.
The article states that "The radio arrives with numerous USA trunked systems pre-programmed into the memory. This for the non-USA user, just gets in the way. The best way to use the radio is to forget all about trunked radio and to empty it of all the pre-programmed settings. To clear the whole lot use Send data option (in ARC396) .... The only system available to send should be New System 1. Everything but that will be erased from the radio. Now you are able to ignore the trunking side of the radio."
I want to make sure that this is the right thing to do with a BR330T in the UK too.
I've been told that there are a couple of trunked networks in London at present and wonder if I'm making life harder for myself by clearing all the trunking frequencies if I've only got to somehow add them back to have a listen to the police frequencies.
Once I've got this clean slate, what systems (is this the right terminology?) do users suggest I add to the scanner with the Butel 330 software? And which is the best place for a UK user to get the data on these systems for import via the Butel software?
Many thanks,
Jon
