Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hi all,

Today I received my Retevis H-777 2-way radios. It shows that there are five levels of VOX sensitivity, but does not show how to adjust it. Does anyone out there have any experience with this, or similar, radio(s) that can help?

Thanks!

If the radio has FPP, it usually can be set in the menu. Otherwise, the software controls this feature when you create a code plug. Depending on the quality of the radio, you may find VOX useless because it is triggered by sound, not just your voice. Many (all?) radios also have a delay from when the first word is heard and the radio actually starts to transmit. This can cause more than one word to be left out of your reply.

Thanks jaspence - While the unit does not have an LCD screen / on screen menu, I found out that a programming cable + software are required to access the vox and several other functions, including reassigning channels...etc. I know the problems with VOX, but just having purchased these - I like to tinker - so I wanted to try out every setting to see what works and what is garbage. I fear I won't be using vox, but I ordered the programming cable anyway to play with the programming.
