Oh man were these not fun!! We launched in total darkness and pilots would turn on the radios about when we were finishing up. Low and behold we bumped heads often! Retractable antennas!! Wasn’t there a second ago?

Interesting to see a picture of one down. And, still an issue with many drones and current black budget aircraft. Darkstar (I know it is now de-classified) and others use these as well, and I am sure ground crew hate them too.

for some reason the moment i finished reading your description, into the background of my minds eye...this song ethereally crescendoed to full volume, my vision went fuzzy, the room started spinning....then i blacked out.
