lol..happens every time, was using my backup CB (cobra 29) in the tanker the other day, not my normal truck. The wires in the truck weren't marked, didn't have time to get a multi meter or tester...sssoooo I figured what the hell got a 50/50 shot right...will long story short I burnt up my reverse polarity diode and the fuse for the power cord. I know it is both because the new fuse in the power cord blowns as soon as I turn it on, and tried my cig lighter cord, same deal. I know which diode to replace, but it calls for 2.5 amp 50 piv, my radio shack only has a 3 amp 50 piv. so I have two questions....
One - I need to know from the electronic types here if this will be ok, don't want to further damage my CB.
Two - I read on another site if you put two diodes in series with the bands opposite each other, it lets you hook the radio with power off either wire and the radio will work and won't blow fuses. I don't see how that will work, but if this is true, it would be just as easy as long as I am there to put two diodes in instead of one.
