On Pixel Technologies website, the instructions show an Elecraft K3 transceiver using the key out connection to remove power from the preamp on transmit. What is the equivalent connection for Icom tranceivers?

Most (99%) transceivers have a jack of some form for engaging T/R relays in a power output amplifier. Depending on what rig you're using, there may be more than one. You may have to make your own relay box though depending on your needs. I suggest also using a sequencer (like the VHF/UHF boys do) to make SURE the pre-amp is off before any RF leaves the rig. Otherwise - POOF!

The SEND output. So when Tx'ing it goes to Ground (or the LOW state.) The default dip switch settings should work fine.

To be safe, connect ONLY the power inserter and the Icom (and AC adapter) and run a quick test to make sure the GREEN LED goes out when Tx'ing. Do NOT have the loop connected.

That answers my question. I wonder why the website doesn't show more rigs. I talked to them yesterday and was told they are back-ordered from Dayton.

Thanks for the tips and replies.

If you don't need the T/R relay in the Pro-1B then check out the Wellbrook 1530S+ or AL330 model.

The Wellbrook is a tad more sensitive but it does lack the T/R relay.

I researched both antennas and noticed the Wellbrook, in some cases, produced an S unit or two better in comparison.

I chose the Pro 1B because the transceiver I have, has a setting for switching from the receive antenna (Pro 1B), to transmitting on the dipole automatically, plus the T/R relay, it's made in the USA and little better construction quality.

Hope my decision works out !
