Hey Mike-
you reminded me, I also bought a BPF 1632 filter that just squashes signals-didn't like it.
Here's what runs near my QTH:
-Voltage, high voltage, high speed internet, TV cable mainlines on utility poles that run less than 20' from my windows here on the 3rd floor.
-plumbing supply store right next door.
-Glass shop next to that.
-School, preschool, and daycare.
-Guy running a grow house.
-Tennants in my building, 9 of them, one of which I know runs fish tanks.
-Paging antennas within a half mile of me.
-Cellphone repeaters within two blocks of me.
-Sutro Tower less than two miles from me.
-Not to mention a vascular malady that severely limits my physical abilities.
No splitters here. Just Alpha Delta switches. But with all this, I can still get some good stuff and almost keep up with you fancy SDR guys in Wunclub:D
I just am kind of OCD with achieving a better and better signal-to-noise ratio.

I think i have you beat with the OCD. I'm going to go over your response in my head a bit and see what i can come up with.

I borrowed invergordon's loop to see if it would reduce/remove the noise from what I suspect is a neighbour's plasma TV - it comes on shortly after 3pm just after the kids come home from school. None of my LED LCD TV's have the slightest RFI despite one end of my OFCD being tied to the mast that also holds the TV antenna! Needless to say the loop was no better than the OCFD.
I'm regretting buying this house in the valley - I should have looked a bit longer for a house up on the hill like I had before!
