I'm interested in using the Powermat technology however didn't want to cause any more interference with my radio monitoring by deploying these devices.

I didn't find anything with Google searches beyond it interfering with the iPhone's Compass. Was wondering if anyone had heard any RFI issues from using Powermat.

YES!! No noticeable interference to a BC-996XT scanner (with an external antenna) sitting a few feet away from it, but it definitely creates some broadband EMI that raises the noise floor on my Kenwood R-5000 HF receiver that's also just 3' or so away from it -- enough to where I take my iPhone off the Powermat if I'm playing on HF.

Powermat & the R-5000 share the same household AC circuit, so I don't know if the problem is ingressing the receiver thru the AC, or if it's actual RFI.

I'll try moving the Powermat to a different circuit as well as increasing the physical distance between it & the HF receiver & let you know what happens.

I resolved the issue by ensuring the Powermat was plugged into a different electrical circuit, using a torroid on the power cable, and physically moving the PowerMat & it's power cord about 10' away from the Kenwood R-5000 receiver.

The Kenwood R-5000 is just something hooked-up to a 70' or so longwire so that I have HF/SSB receive capability in the bedroom. Its not intended to be used as my primary DX'ing receiver, so I can tolerate some known EMI & RFI into it, otherwise I would get rid of the PowerMat.

FWIW...I had a Palm Pre that used a charger called the Touchstone, which uses inductive charging just like the Powermat. Whenever the phone was on the charger, it created a significant amount of interference with my VX-170. (2 meter HT) This interference was very noticeable everywhere in the house and even outside.
