I buy all my RG6 at Lowes or Home Depot and I use twist on contactors but I have a crimping tool and cutters and everything.. I will use nothing but RG6..

The center conductor on RG-8 is fatter than RG-11 and I don't know of any RG-11 F connectors that would fit RG-8 without some hacking.

RG8 is basically the same size as RG11, which is the 75 Ohm equivalent. They do make F connectors for RG11 that will fit just fine on RG8.

Hard line? If you are talking Heliax, I have a scanner run using 7/8" heliax. 200' run up the tower going to an 8 port multi coupler.

On topic though I use N, TNC or BNC connectors exclusively for RF. The only thing I use a PL259 for is low band and HF. An N connector will terminate to your largest heliax or all the way down to RG58.

I don't use RG-8 (I would typically either use LMR-400 or LDF4-50) but there ARE F connectors available for LMR-400. I just pulled some off an old site the other day.
