Not getting too far from the OPs original Q but I use LMR240 for all my attic n outside antennas! Longest run is 50ft. It routes easily and for my setup, not much 700/800 it works just fine!

Loss calculated for 100 feet of coax with SWR of 1.5 at 800 MHz.:
(Yes, I know SWR is not as important for receiving, but it makes a difference when calculating loss, transmit or receive.)

Belden 9258 (RG8X) 12.3 dB

Belden 8215 (RG6A) 8.9 dB

LMR-400 3.8 dB

So, at 800 MHz, 100 feet of RG6A has about 5.1 dB greater loss, compaired to LMR-400. Remember, every three dB loss represents cutting the power in half. 3 dB cuts the power in half, 5.1 dB is a significant difference.

Of course, the difference in loss at 6 feet is not much, but if you are running significant lengths of coax at high frequencies, you might want to consider better coax.

If you stop and think about it, it is the choice for the cable TV industry. All of the cable is VHF and UHF.
