Rhode Island Statewide Communications Network problems

hey I was in Westerly over the weekend for the new years and i listened to the Rhode Island Statewide Communications Network (RISCON) System on my Pro 96 Digital scanner and it came in very bad. it was coming in as analog and digital and off and on. when it was analog it was coming in scratchy. Westerly Police ids where coming in bad in the same town. why is that. does any one know why?

I was up in RI last week, I received the system just fine, but no voice traffic. This was in Providence, there are three different sites, with three different control channels, did you have all 3 programed in? That could be a cause of the problem or maybe a lack of antennas in that area? Don't really know, but make sure you have all 3 CC's programmed in and try again.

When you where in providence what ids where you able to get on that system?

I was just woundering if you are able to get washington county ones like Westery on the Providence Site?

I did not pick up any voice traffic. And I was very tired so did not listen much, and then I had business to attend to and did not listen any more. I checked while in Covwentry and received the control channels there fine. I did hear much conventional fire traffic, but nothing on RISCON, or the DOT system, or the Transit system. But it was Christmas day at about 11:30 PM too.

I have a hard time with the system in Newport. The digital signals seem to get garbled.

When I travel around South County it comes in fine.

I am convinced you need a really good antenna setup to receive the system properly.

I am logging a majority of the traffic in Narrangansett their talkgroups seem to be the most active.
