Ri air show cancelled for june!!!!

The annual RI air show has been completely cancelled for 2013. See you next year folks WWW.wjar.com. However the new Bedford airport funday will be held on Saturday may 18th. Gates open at 10am. The main attraction every year seems to be the city of new Bedford mobile emergency operations center. We get a large crowd everytime we showcase the vehicle. It is a pretty fun event.

Here is a link to the women in aviation website for new Bedford regional airport. Airport Fun Day - Atlantic Aviators - Southeastern Massachusett's Chapter of Women in Aviation Also there will be no military aircraft this year due to budget cuts.
The civil air patrol will be on site. Last year I saw them carrying portable walkies. Don't know if they used them not. Also coast guard auxiliary will be here to

It's going to be a lean season for military airshows. I'll bet all the military demonstration teams will be cutting back on or eliminating their show schedules for the foreseeable future. That's sad, but they'll have to utilize their cut-back budgets as best they can. Can our politicians screw up anything else for us?

BURLINGTON, Vt. -

The sequester will mean quieter skies in Vermont this summer.

Automatic federal spending cuts are causing the Thunderbirds to stay grounded, canceling this summer's "Wings over Vermont" air show -- a Vermont National Guard Foundation fundraiser.

The Department of Defense is directing the Air Force to cancel aviation support to public events for the remainder of the fiscal year.

NYC Fleet week has also been cancelled. Loss of tens of millions of dollars in revenue, I have to wonder if this being used as a pressure point to move the budget forward, when it really shouldn't affect the Military.
