PlantCML is a provider of dispatch and console software, not radio systems. I wonder whose hardware they'll end up reselling? Based on the parent company being EADS, my guess would be Harris/MA-COM.

According to the radio system manager, Richardson will be testing a whole mix of P25 radios, from Motorola to Harris to Thales to possibly Tait. They are not set on one vendor.

From all I have seen with EADS so far, the systems they sell include Tait repeaters. They are open to any mobiles and portables, but I think they worked with Tait to make their software interface to the repeaters for P25 trunked control.

When they sell systems I have seen just about any type of radio being sold. Since it is in the 700/800 range, I would expect Motorola.

PlantCML is a subsidiary EADS and does indeed sell their radio systems for public safety use.

The Richardson system will use EADS CorP25 system components and is a native P25 system. It will be a 4 site trunked simulcast system using 7 or more channels, as opposed to their existing single site/dual voted EDACS system, which is now nearly 20 years old.

The new system will support TDMA (phase 2) but will initially be deployed in C4FM mode (phase 1). It also will have a complete ISSI subsystem, run consoles over CSSI, and support AES encryption. A subset of radios will be encrypted.

All subscriber units (radios) on the system will run the newer half rate AMBE 2+ vocoders. Richardson will be taking full advantage of the ability of the system to support any P25 compliant radio, and will be conducting extensive testing of available units in the near future.

The new network will be fully redundant, with dual system controllers, dual simulcast master units, and dual trunking controllers. All sites are back hauled over Richardson's fiber optic system (10 gigabit core).

Should be pretty sweet.
