The land of broken calculators.
That's good!
There's really no reason to do it in this day and age.

About the only people still using signals and 10 codes in my area are mall security and then you realize just how silly it is. Plain language is the way to go.

The new recomended standards are to use "clear speech" when talking on the radios now

Columbia County dropped their ten/signal codes several years ago after the Federal Government recommendation was made. 9/11 and hurricane Katrina helped push the need for plain text along....

I was wondering about that. Some of the officers seemed a little awkward when talking to dispatch. Makes since.

I have a PSR-800 and driving around the Columbia County area, primarily in Grovetown and Evans I am getting extremely staticky reception on the Palmetto 800 Augusta-Richmond System, using the Augusta Site. This is while while driving around, both with the 800 mhz radio shack antenna and an external vehicle mounted antenna. Is there something I may be missing in the programming?

Static is nothing unusual... I get static and poor signal on my work radio when I affiliate with the Barton Chapel Rd.(Augusta) site. In the past, I've been at fire station 15 , located on Flowing Wells Rd. @ Wrightsboro Rd., and have had poor signal. That station is literally down the street from that site. Lot's of factors could affect your reception. Some of the static may not be from the site itself but could be the user signal being weak when affiliating with that site or, any other site.
