Ventured into the area today (again)....

I caught 461.5500 active as a conventional DMR channel...
TG: 907
CC: 1
Slot: 1

Appears to re-broadcast traffic from the Wayne Co SO SAFE-T TG 12435...
I caught this active on another trip, or two, but never had the traffic to verify user....

Any one have any insight...?

That freq is licensed to Western Wayne Schools. The DMR emissions type is not however. I wouldn't be surprised to see a local police rebroadcast on a school radio system, especially since it could provide better coverage inside the school.

the Hoosier state, baby.
A lot of 89’s sheriff units stand-by at county schools as a security detail. Usually 89-115 through 89-140 (roughly) go on duty at 0700 and off duty at 1430-1500.
Richmond has its own secular RPD school detail, similar to how WCSO runs.
I’ve not ever monitored the system you posted, but now I have a reason to program it & have a listen.
That’s pretty interesting.

But I suppose this raises a question; wouldn’t it possibly be more effective for the schools’ admins to have a scanner or two on-site in the case that something happens? It isn’t like they can TX WCSO regardless.

Let me know what you're hearing with it, I'm really interested...

My question becomes this; unless Indiana does things a little differently than Ohio does:

1) Don't these schools already have radios in them (carried by the resource officer himself); plus,

2) Doesn't the school offices have a stand-alone SAFE-T radio in them for modern safety issues when needed?

Absolutely not.

Edit: My county doesn't use SAFE-T, why would my school secretaries have SAFE-T radios?

In Ohio, (I cant vouch for all), but a large portion of school offices have a MARCS radio for contacting their local authorities, if the need arises... I was wondering if it was the same way in Indiana...

Here in Marion County, most of the public School LEO's have a MESA radio in addition to thier own school radios. The school admin etc do NOT have MESA radios, only the SRO/SPD's do. There is only one school system that is on the MESA family of systems full time, that being Wayne Township using System 2. The WT Schools PD does have access to System 1 to talk to IMPD, while none of the other staff have access to S1. And of course IPS PD is full time users of MESA S1, whilst IPS ops are not on MESA at all. As far as I know, none of the "parochial" schools or private schools have MESA access. The public school LEO's can also access SAFE-T, but as far as I know only use the SWMA's and the RMA's, or Zone Event's for special event type things, and extremely rarely. (ALL MESA Public Safety radios have SAFE-T also.) In Arkansas, some school systems are on the AWIN, and a former governor of Mississippi had put a plan in motion for every public school statewide to have access to MSWIN, though I am not sure how far along that plan has grown. Just to the north, in Hamilton County, all the public schools SRO/SPD's have MESA System 3 access, and this was expanded after a school shooting event not too long ago, though of course now, all LE on S3 is full time E.

That's what I was going for.... That the "Principals Office" has a Stand-alone MARCS, or SAFE-T in this case, base radio; not that the administration has, or carries, one around...

Thanks Indy72....

In Wayne Co. we don’t have typical resource officers. Like I previously said, we have actual LEO’s on-site either with WCSO or RPD.

I honestly would not know, however I recall around three weeks ago there was a bad car vs. bicyclist on 27 North near Fountain City. Careflight was called to initially land on a nearby school’s football field. The WCSO unit at the school had to pass this information along to school admins to clear the football field. That tells me that the admins don’t have any sort of scanner or HT for SAFE-T on site.

Just wanted to be clear that this is all correct?
Tried my SDS100 & 996P2 with a few different antennas with no joy. SDS shows noise in the 15-25K range with an occasional bounce down to 10-11K.
No voice, or data.

Ahh, that makes a little more sense. I don’t use DSD+ haha. Maybe I’ll take a drive around town and see if I can’t pick the frequency up.
If I do hear anything, I’ll update here. Til then, 73’s.
