Guess I'll have to add them to my scanner and see if I can pick them up here in Lawrence. I pick up Wabaunsee County here.
Shouldn't hear it that far east. Topeka will be the limit. It is all encrypted too. Our local responders without radios can't even listen.

Does anyone know if Riley County has moved to P25 yet? I heard info on the local Manhattan AM radio station this morning that county radio services would be cutting over to the new system today 9-17-2020. Coincidentally, I haven't heard any RCPD or EMS comms on the usual analog freqs for hours now. Maybe it's just a slow night and traffic is light.

New Cut over date is 9/24/2020. I don't monitor PD but EMS is still on VHF. From what I've heard about the new system, it will all be encrypted and nothing will be heard except pages.

I have no idea but hopefully a volunteer will step forward and list that info. The question I can't get clarification on is, will comms truly be encrypted? If they are just running P25 digital, that is not encryption in and of itself. To my knowledge, P25 is just a digital format which a compatible scanner can still hear. If, however, they are going to encrypt comms on top of the digital P25, then we are locked out, game over.

Here are the Freqs. I haven't had time to program them into my scanner yet to see which one is the control channel.

I quickly loaded them into an old analog hand held scanner and 851.0375 keeps locking up on a carrier that sounds like telemetry chatter, would that be control?

I plugged the control channel into my scanner/computer and I am picking up the control channel here in Lawrence. I haven't had time to play around with it yet. I'll let you know what I come up with tomorrow.

Skinny1, is the Riley Co talk group info below of any value? It's from RadioReference but I have no idea if it's current or valid. I loaded it it into my BCD996t scanner a couple of days ago but it seems to have made no difference. Have you had any results yet from the freqs you loaded?

Those are correct but off the Kansas Statewide Interoperable Communication System (KSICS). This is not Riley County's new radio system. I posted the freqs from the FCC's web page for Riley County's new system..

I am picking up Riley County's new system here in Lawrence using an antenna up twenty feet with a Stridsburg 850 MHZ preamp on the control channel. Most of it is encrypted.

Thanks for the info. I hear EMT of course on the existing 155.805 freq but nothing on the digital side. I suspect though that I have my scanner loaded incorrectly for the P25 side of Riley. I programmed the shot you see above into the scanner hoping the DEC ID's were all I needed. I have no idea though how to load the control channel 851.0375, if that is what's missing. Thanks again!

All you need is the control channel and talk groups you want to listen too along with what type of system you are monitoring. Should pop right up after you enter that info.
