RIMPAC 2014

Every other year the US hosts a large military exercise on Oahu, based out of Pearl Harbor, Hawaii named Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC). This year more than 50 ships and submarines from about 20 countries plus 200 aircraft and ground forces will be participating. The exercise starts today, 26 June and continues all of July. I happen to be in Hawaii right now, but with limited equipment. I will try to find some of the frequencies they are using. Hopefully, since there are units from so many nations there be some in the clear transmissions.

I have already seen increased ship and sub traffic near Pearl Harbor and military helios around the island. There was a big military convoy yesterday afternoon which affected traffic between Pearl Harbor and Schofield Army Barracks on the H-2 freeway.

If anyone else is on island, please post any frequencies you find. Thanks.

Definitely not from me... they are super weak. I can barely make out any distinct words from their transmissions.

I just dialed in and I'm hearing some traffic now at 0622 UTC on 6693.1. (This is on USB for those that do not know)

"Go for trident 6"
"Blue light 976 got you lima charlie"
"Stand by for trident"

I can hear the Trident operator reasonably well, but Blue Light is weak. I've got S4 to S7 of hash and they're right in it.

I am in California using an OCF inverted V. I've had some bad noise for a month or so around 40 meters. I will dial up 13224.1 next time we face the sun and see how that goes.

Getting 6693.1 and 13224.1 comms early this AM. Very odd that the comms are so weak at times. I wonder if some units are running with reduced power output...

Hi Brandon, I logged the call sign as CHEETAH 77, although I am not certain.
