Is anyone else copying activity on some of the RINS frequencies?

For the past two hours, I have been copying intermittent digital bursts on RINS 3 (867.2375) and RINS 4 (867.4875). I don't have a digital-capable receiver to know if these are APCO compliant or not, and obviously I can't identify them either.

It sounds like a combination of a trunk control channel with bursts of digital voice (like what you get listening to a Balto City voice channel without a digital receiver).

It lasts for approximately 30 seconds, and then is quiet for anywhere from 30 seconds to three minutes.

Copying nothing on those freqs tonight from Northern Balt Co....although DE does use some of the RINS freqs w/ their digital 800 system.....and sometimes, when atmospheric conditions are just right, I can barely copy them from parts of Eastern Baltimore County.

I mentioned during our discussion on the BWI thread that 866.3625, the DC area police common freq, has been active since last evening. It is slightly out of my range other than the DC police transmissions. It's just not loud enough to demodulate the digital transmissions from whoever else is on there. There is also encrypted comms involved. Someone from the DC area might be able to tell us what's going on.

Yep, I'm hearing the same thing here in Glen Burnie. Have no idea who it is, and like you, don't have a digital scanner - yet. I was wondering if it was just me, with some sort of slop or mixing product. Obviously not.

Just to add a tiny bit of additional info, I searched 867.4 - 867.6 on my Pro-92 in the car with just the ducky. On several of the frequencies in that range I was copying loud and clear, and it is Motorola digital trunk activity. The Pro-92 was decoding 5-digit Motorola trunking IDs but the audio was clearly digital bursts, so it must be skip from a 3600 baud system.

Just might be a guess guy's , but those 2 frequencies might be Delaware's Statewide TRS. It's listed in the database.

A bit of further digging through the databases and here's what I came up with:

RINS3 867.2375 and RINS4 867.4875 are licensed to New Castle County, Delaware as part of the statewide trunked system. They're licensed for 100 watts at five locations: Newark, Smyrna, Wilmington, Chesapeake and Claymont. Callsign should be WPSI864. It's a 3600 baud ASTRO system.

I haven't been able to play with this anymore to find out which site is now able to be copied; if anyone wants to play with the system w/o the audio the control channel for New Castle is 868.2125. You can track it in CC only mode even without a digital card... you just can't hear the conversations.

Hey Folks probably already said but we are listening to the Rins Channels in Harford County to see if we will be able to use them and so Far Rins 3&4 have Digital Modulation on them and Rins 5 has an Analog Trunked System on it so we in Harford County will only be able to use Rins 1,2&6
