RINS being used in AA county?

With all the activity in the last week or two on the ITAC channels, the recent note about RINS being used in Howard county got me to wondering if AA county also has these frequencies in their bandplan; the answer is yes, they do. I've generally not listened to them because some of those freqs I get data bursts (Delaware skipping in?). But has anyone heard any actual comms on them for AA county? So far, at least for me, the answer is no

You're definitely getting some skip from the DE state system. RINS 3 and RINS 4 are both in their bandplan, and one of them is a control channel for the New Castle County site. I had to put all the RINS and ITAC frequencies in PL mode to stop interference.

I've only heard sporadic use, and I have yet to hear AA units there, but they do have them in the radios.

That brings up a good point.....I keep the RINS in my radios w/ the PL precisely because of the DE system use.....but would RINS ever be transmitted on without PL? Wondering if I'll potentially be missing out on something by keeping the freqs in w/ PLs attached. This is of interest, because TinEar was copying some interagency activity on RINS a few days ago........hey Al, were they using tone 156.7?

I also have the 156.7 PL set for the RINS freqs. Since I was able to hear them I've got to assume they were using it. Short answer: Yes.

I also have the crossover freqs used by DE installed in the scanner in conventional mode and hear quite a bit of traffic late night so without the tones, the RINS freqs would be worthless - in my opinion of course.

Montgomery County has some of the RINS freqs programmed with tones other than 156.7 Hz for simplex talk-around channels. I still suspect AA may be using the RINS freqs with other tones for their Vehicle Repeater System but I have not heard anything conclusively about that. Someone with a radio and a frequency counter needs to try keying-up the VRS channels and see what's up.

ill see what i can dig up at HQ next time im down there... since most of our units dont have the VRS in them (yet)
