Thanks for posting the link! It was so nice to see that hundreds of donations have already been made via the site... along with the "buckets" that have filled quickly across our community (Some of the sites are listed here: Officer Schneider Donation & Fundraiser Information if you're nearby.)

One touching sight from yesterday was: Slain officer's body gets police escort home to Lake City | kare11.com

Info on the funeral procession

Officer Shawn Schneider, considered a hero to so many, will be laid to rest this weekend. As many as 2,000 police officers from around the country are expected to attend the funeral.

The funeral will take place at 1 p.m. at 100 Peace Ridge Rd. in Lake City. Though it is asked that only Shawn's family, coworkers, and colleagues attend the actual service.

A visitation for officer Schneider, will be held Friday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at First Lutheran Church in Lake City. and also 1 hour prior to the service.

Two funeral processions will immediately follow the funeral service and are open to the public. It’s expected that this will begin around 2 p.m.

The first procession will include all law enforcement and first responder agencies, excluding those from Lake City. The second procession will include the Schneider family, the Lake City Police Department, the Lake City staff, Goodhue County Police, Wabasha County Police, and Officer Schneider’s casket – which will be carried by a horse-drawn carriage.

Organizers say it will take about an hour for the horse-drawn carriage to complete the four-mile route. The St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church will ring its bell 261 times during the procession; this is the number of Minnesota officers who have died in the line of duty.

The procession will travel on Lyon Avenue to Lakeshore Drive to Lakewood Avenue. You can see a map here: http://cbsminnesota.files.wordpress.com/2012/01/procession-route-for-shawn-schneider.jpg?w=300

The burial will follow at Lakewood Cemetery, located at 1156 County Rd. 9.

Nice work, thanks for posting those.

One interesting thing to note is that Shawn was the ARMER radio trainer for Lake City. As the Goodhue ARMER admin, I worked with Shawn on radio matters. I was also one of the first on scene to assist Shawn the day of the shooting. Shawn did not do anything wrong that day, he was ambushed. Shawn was a great cop, a true hero, and will be greatly missed by all. It has been very moving to see the amount of support for Shawn in Lake City.

N0WEF, did you listen to any of the radio traffic? I did the com plan, STAC2 was operations/staging and SOA P1 was parking. They did the final call on STAC2. I have a copy of it, but the file size is too big to attach to this post (its 300kb). If anyone wants to hear it, PM me your email and I will send it.

First, I want to thank you for your reply. It contained the most meaningful, heartfelt, paragraph I've ever read on RR.

Myself, having been through the unique experience of what Shawn's family went through for the first 11 days, only hope my words were seen as respectful to you as one of the first Officers on scene.

I did have a chance to listen, though I missed the first 20-30mins., which I thank god for. (For the reason referred to above) I do need to say, in 30+ years of listening to comms those were some of the most professional, intelligent, calm, level headed communications I had ever heard, especially considering the circumstances.
