Ok so I see a new entry in the RR database for Ripley County: New 911/Fire - 153.785 Repeater with 158.775 input (NFM at Doniphan). There is a problem with this entry in my opinion, if you check the License for this frequency it shows countywide use but it is only 20 watts ERP, I live in rural Ripley County and there is no way this has enough juice to reach countywide for dispatch and operations, not going to happen, unless the antenna was mounted on top of Mount Everest and seeing how that is not located in Ripley County just no way- no how. The old frequency 154.130 is simplex but has an ERP of 150 watts, plenty to go countywide, I don't see how they are going to use this new frequency effectively for dispatching countywide rural fire departments and such. Any opinions on this?

Yes, I saw that when it was first issued. I don't know why any department would put up a 20/25W repeater for any use.
But.... looking at the control points, its possible it may only be for a local department, "Highway K Volunteer Fire" (according to the address on google)
100 YARDS SOUTH OF JCT OLD 142 AND 142E 20D, DONIPHAN, MO
This appears to be unincorporated Owenmont in the area of Old 142 (Co Rd 142E20 and 142E-24A) MAP LINK

The antenna location appears to be near a Mark Twain National Forest site MAP LINK

and there is also a fire department there called "Current River Volunteer Fire" MAP LINK

So, maybe just a local repeater. I guess we'll have to wait and see

Yeah I know the area really good and I live about as rural as rural can get and the other frequency in use for fire/911 154.13 Simplex, sometimes it even comes in with a bit of static and sometimes I can only hear the dispatch traffic as the mobiles sometimes just don't make it into my scanner, there is no way the 20/25 watt repeater would be used out here in Gatewood LOL. I think there will need to be a revision on the use of this whenever someone finds out. I'll have to look into this more, monitor it from town and such, find out exactly how it is being used, got me curious now :).
