A while back there was some talk on these forums and other message boards about Riverside PD going digital. Haven't heard anything in a while. Is that still planned and if so what is the status on it?

Ugg their licenses in ULS are a mess.. It does look like they are licensed for both analog and digital on KQR573, emmissions 20K0F3E, 20K0F1E. I did a quick check of their past annd current contracts and I cant find anything radio related. I will shoot them an email monday and see if I get a response.

...going digital would get rid of that 'squak' at the end of their transmissions from thei identifiers, which would be good all in itself.

I know that they have Astro Spectras already in the Units. Here is what I "Heard" so its not confirmed:
The Astro Saber 1 handhelds will most likely be ditched for the XTS-5000 and will have DES-XL/OFB modules pre-installed. Will they encrypt some or all of thier TGs? Dont Know.
There was some discussion on here before that the Quantar configurations and trunking build-out are not near being finished and some addtional parts needed to be purchased. And like it was said, the licenses have to be in order for it to fly. Sounds like its gonna be a while.
