• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I'm trying to program a XPR4550 with a RMN5065B IMPRES Keypad Microphone to use for amature radio. The mic has 3 buttions on the side. I was successful in programming the purple button "no dot" to change the zone, but I cannot program the "one dot" and "two dot" buttons for the channel up and down. The drop down menu doesn't show channel up/down, but it does show up in the explinations down below. I would think that channel up/down would be a good feature for that mic to have. Do I have another part of the program set up incorrectly, or is channel up/down not programmable for this mic. Thanks for any help.

Do you have channel up/down assigned to another button/switch combo? Motorola radios will generally take an option out of the lineup once it's been assigned a button/function.

Thank you for responding. I do not have them assigned to any other buttons on the mic, but of course there is the dedicated channel up/down button on the radio.

I just opened an XPR4550 codeplug as well as one for an XPR5550e. It's not an option for the 4550 but is for the 5550e (and non-e models). Unfortunately, the help explanations in the lower pane cover all possibilities for all models without making that very clear.

Thanks KG4INW. That makes sense. I guess I'll just switch back to the standard mic. It would have been a nice option for mobile operation.

You're welcome. The newer generation radios very often have nicer features or more flexibility than the previous ones.
