Oh, hello Indiana, my birth state! My wife & I are going to be coming up to visit and need to know some 2m & 70cm frequencies to program in my radio, primarily linked repeater systems & active repeaters. We are going to be coming up I-65, I-465 East and I-69 north to just south of Fort Wayne. Thanks for the help if you have any info!

The 146.700 (-600, no tone) repeater in Indianapolis probably has the broadest coverage of any repeater in central Indiana. And, there's usually someone on there chatting. Since you are new to the area, you won't have heard their stories before. ;) You should be able to start hearing the 7-0 around the Edinburgh exit and it'll carry you to north of Anderson.

The 442.650 (+5.00, 77.0 PL) repeater also in Indianapolis has pretty good coverage. While it's quieter than the 146.700, the conversations are sometimes more technical in nature.

Hey Jason! Welcome back to Indiana coming from Tennessee, the state of MY birth! (Fentress County, TN)

I'm Rick, N9GSU...let me know when you're coming through, I'd love to chat with you on the .700 in Indy.

As you leave Indy and head up I-69, there are the 145.390 and 146.820 repeaters in Anderson, 146.73 in Muncie. If you get on the 146.730 in Muncie, give Dick, KB9NPU a call...Dick is a sight impaired ham who is a delight to talk to...he's been a friend of mine for many, many years and is always a welcome voice on the air. As you start running out of range of the 73 in Muncie, you'll be coming into range of the 146.79 in Marion. Not an extremely active repeater, but the folks who hang out there are quality folks you'll enjoy talking to. In Ft Wayne, my repeater of choice is the 146.880.

Enjoy your trip and I hope to catch you on the air!

The 146.700 repeater(High Profile Repeater) can be reached on I-65 south when you are north of Lebanon. Hope this helps you out answering your question. You can reach our repeater from Lafayette.

We have had mobiles in the Lafayette area hit the 146.700 from I-65 that were going south with no problems. We also have a ham the moved from Indianapolis to Lafayette and he gets into the repeater with no problems. It all depends on HOW you use the radio.

Glad I could be of help. With the correct setting of power and a good mobile antenna you can hit the 146.700 from anywhere in Central Indiana. We are at 720 Feet on the WTHR NBC 13 tower at I-465 and Ditch Road on the Indianapolis Northside. We do have a large coverage area to the North, South, East, and West thanks to WTHR NBC 13

On the internet look up W9WIN repeater system it is picked up at mile marker 18 I=65 HENRYVILLE, INDIANA to North of Indi about 25 miles North, it is a wide area repeater linked and you will get out easily on it even on 10 meters linked into it.
