ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. (WXYZ) - A massive brush fire is burning out of control in Rochester Hills near Adams and Avon.


Winds are fanning the flames making it difficult to get the brush fire out.

Action News crews are on the way to the scene.

UPDATE: ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. (WXYZ) - Police say a brush fire that roared through a Rochester Hills Field was started by two kids in a fire pit.

The kids say the fire blew up when winds fanned the flames and it was soon burning out of control. It happened in a field near Adams and Avon. The kids ran home to tell their parents about the fire.

At one point, the brush fire appeared to be zeroing in on a home, but firefighters were able to keep the flames back.

Firefighters were quickly able to bring the fire under control. They are now dealing with the remaining hot spots.
