First off, thanks to whomever is sharing their Rochester Airspy over the internet. It helps with those insomnia nights!

Was poking around the spectrum and saw the Type 2 system at the Kodak Plant. I wasn't able to decode it very well -- Trunk88 wasn't picking up the correct control channel frequency. I don't know Trunk88 that well so that's as far as I got.

Saw the FCC license and noted that on 2-12-2025 they have a modification. It's moving to a DMR network very soon. Same bat frequencies and channels I presume.

Cheers!

There is very little activity on the system. Security is the only consistent activity but only a few units. Some chatter on the analog TGs from Power Plant and Rail operations that are now contractors.

If they convert to DMR I would not be surprised if they downsize the number of active frequencies.

As said its a Type II Smart Zone. I did the rebanding on the system and also worked on it about 6 years ago when the Site Controller failed. At that time Security was the only user. There was still a pallet of new in box radios from NEXTEL on site from rebanding. I would imagine the site to stay on the air until it finally crashes. They have plenty of spare radios and in reality the stuff just ticks along.

When I visit Rochester, I have Kodak set up as P25 Phase I and my SDS-100, BCD-436HP, and a laptop with DSDPlus all track it that way.

Well someone went to the trouble of renewing the original FCC license. Then the new owners are updating the license and adding their contact info and the DMR emission code. I don't think they'd do this for just fun. It may take a few months but I suspect you'll see DMR later this year. It'd be cheap encryption to use DMR so that'd be my guess.

The many old analog radios must be well overdue for replacement so that may help drive the switch to DMR.

I retired from the KPFD in 2005 and was on the committee to design the system for Security and Fire Department's back in the 1980-90's so yes those radio's are old! Kodak downsized big time because of poor management. There's still a FD there very small I'll try and contact for some info.
