Harris, which entered the U.S. public-safety portable radio market last year with its Unity line of multiband radios, acquired Tyco Electronics Wireless Systems for $675 million cash. The buy comes just three months after the state of New York cancelled a $2 billion public-safety communications contract with Tyco Electronics Wireless Systems. The acquisition excludes the New York transaction and ongoing lawsuit.
