I have had it installed on my roof for about 6 years it is a mobile basestation conversion dual band antenna two meters 70 centimeters I have not used it in a couple years and recently hooked it up the SWR is very high on 2 meters but is acceptable 1.2 on 70 centimeters it used to be good on both bands does anyone have any troubleshooting recommendations thank you

Take it down and inspect it. I'd agree, likely water intrusion, corrosion, etc. Pay attention to the center coil and above, since damage there would directly impact the lower frequencies.

Take all the set screws out and make sure everything is clean and shiny, including the threads on the set screws. Clean the ends of the whips with steel wool, wire brush, etc. Inspect the coil, especially the base.

On the mount, do the same, pay close attention to where the coax connects. If this wasn't properly sealed, it's very likely water got inside the cable.

Look at the coaxial cable jacket, look for splits, damage, etc. Replace if necessary.

All antennas require some sort of maintenance. Purpose built base stations don't need much. These mobile and mobile/base conversions need a lot.

Low SWR on UHF doesn't necessarily mean that the UHF portion is working, it could just mean that the distance to the fault in the coax cable is at the right point in the cable to look like a suitable load.

Like "mmckenna" said check the coax. It is probably contaminated with water. Remember that the reflected SWR power coming back down the coax is also attenuated thus making the SWR look better than it really is.

Previous reading information you guys posted I went on the roof earlier and put a small NMO antenna in place of the large one and the SWR went down to practically zero on 70 centimeters and is about 2 on 2 meters

Dualie troubles

Not sure what kind you have, but like others have said, take it apart, shine everything up with a scotch-brite pad. I run a Larsen dual bander, and every couple of years, I need to take the whip out and clean it up where it goes down into the coil.

I had this mammoth Maldol pr-212d with closer inspection now that I have it inside the NMO connector seems to be in good condition and does not have any corrosion but the midsection that is made of some sort of plastic seems to be faded and look like it has a touch of corrosion around where it meets the metal I do not have much equipment to test with right now considering I just got back into the hobby and found stuff I would really like to see if this antenna is still good because work very well when it was new

I also visually check the cable run and the cable seems to be intact no brakes that are visible what I have to do is take the mount off the roof and clean it up and check it out next I'm assuming?

Just double checked it with a mobile mirage BD dual band linear amplifier the SWR is nearly perfect on both bands the only thing that concerned me was the power output was only 25 Watts on 2 meters and I remember it being more than that before is it possible that I partially messed up the finals?

It would be best to focus on the coaxial connections. Put a layer of electrical tape over the connection. Sometimes adhesive side OUT works well to keep it easy to disassemble.
Follow that up with some self amalgamating tape. Work it into all the gaps. Make sure if fully covers everything.
Follow that up with a final layer of electrical tape.

Sealing the antenna parts probably isn't necessary. You have to be careful about creating water "traps". Places where water can get in, but can't get out.

Periodic maintenance is best. Climb up, take it down, clean everything and reinstall.

Yeah that sounds good to periodically check it
