Hello all my name is Mark, I live in Greeley Colorado and listen on a 2055. I know I should get a digital scanner, but personal I think the idea the whole state will go digital is a myth. I look forward to getting to know you all.

Happy scanning!

Welcome to the forum Mark, you'll find alot happening in the Colorado forum. As far as a digital scanner goes, you will miss alot. I got my digital scanner two years ago and i was surprise on what i was missing. Now i'm enjoying the digital world. There is some great people here with a world of information. More action here even before it hits the news. Again welcome. And one other thing, go to the database here and click on the State of Colorado DTRS and that will give you an idea who's on digital.

Welcome Mark! You will find that almost all of Weld County agencies have gone or will be going digital. Yes, there is still a lot that you can listen to, but I guess it all depends on what you are interested in hearing. All of Greeley PD and Union Colony have gone, if I remember there are only a few rural dept's that still use Fire A/B to communicate other than using them for "tone outs."

Good luck, and again this is the place to be for Colorado radio questions. This group is great with input and of course you have to get the other states involved. "We have a lot of out of state experts as well."

Wow thanks all for the hello's. I mostly listen to Denver PD, with the help of an old HAM antenna. I am ex Adams county and have a lot of friends who work for DPD. I know most the metro area is Digital, I just don't think they will ever get a statewide Digital network for everyone to be on, that's not in some way down most of the time. That's just my thoughts though.

Everyone be safe this weekend, drunks like to hit anything that gets in the way.

Be safe.

I am actually in Gilcrest, but it's hard to find that on a map unless it's very good. Your not the only one to be surprised I can hit Denver. I got this antenna from a elderly gentlemen that had to go into a nursing home. I have no idea if he bought it or made it him self, but in any case I can get most of metro Denver crystal clear. When he gave me the antenna I had thought about getting my HAM ticket, but have since decided I had enough talking on the radio for one life time.

By the way does anyone here know how I can donate other then online? I don't trust the internet as far as I can throw it, one to many reports on the subject I guess.

Be safe

They still have "Gilcrest 784" on the payroll. Otherwise it's Weld S.O. "C.T. 400" contract deputies.

At least he is able hear the fire Paging for the Platteville/Gilcrest FPD without digital on Fire-A 153.785.

Just depends on the site.... Horsetooth Mountain is not a very good shot to Denver. Mount Morrisson is a good shot to here though

Also Denver uses high gain directional antennas at Morrison that are pointed downtown. So they are pointed to the northeast and their signal travels far in that direction.

Welcome Mark. I am sure you will enjoy this forum. I know what you mean about not having a scanner, it is expensive and worthless really if you only listen mainly to one department as I do. I am actually selling mine, a BC296D and I will probably have it at the scanner meet if you would be interested. If not, a couple of the Colorado guys actually have online scanners for major departments, some digital, if you didn't take a look at those yet.

Well, enjoy and welcome! Hope to see you at the meet on the 4th.

Pulling up little list of towers/sites...

mmmm.... I don't see anything with Morrison in the name. What site number in the RR db is that one, please?
