Roscommon Co area help

Good morning all,

I'm seeking some assistance from someone in the are of Prudenville/Houghton Lake that is familiar with any and all radio operations (TG's, freqs, etc) in this area.

I am having a scanner shipped to me for programming in that area, and this is for someone that is totally new to the MPSCS format.

I would love to have some local knowledge so I may input all correct TG's and towers. I am mostly aware of what is used in that area, but inside info would greatly help.

I live near Roscommon. I would program the st helen site and Grayling Site and possibly West Branch, for the MPSCS.
I think the database is pretty accurate, and if you go to the county page in the database, there is a wiki that has a lot of information and seems to be accurate as well. Roscommon County (MI) - The RadioReference Wiki

Yes, as hockeyref says, on my trips up north the St. Helen tower works well for Roscommon County.

I am helping someone from that area with programming. I don't live in that area so I'm kind of going in the blind. The area of focus is Prudenville (Houghton Lake) where he lives.

I suggest you get in touch with Ronaldski. He can program it and then you can upload it to see what he did while you learn more. Make sure to get Camp Grayling in there. I've heard the shooting range and bomber practice there.

Alot comes up from the data base here as state parks but are dispatching Roscommon county So good luck!

154.2650 dispatches some stations in Roscommon maybe st 1 not sure but data shows it as Big Creek Twp in Oscoda Co? it maybe a Ch 2 for Big Creek not main channel, another mistake?

154.265 isn't licensed to Roscommon, close to the area on that same frequency is Clare county fire, Kalkaska fire and Big creek township in Oscoda county. If you have a scanner that does PL code searches turn that on.
FCC wouldn't allocate three counties so next to each other on the same frequency as they would be interfering with each other.
Undoubtedly Roscommon fire has nearby counties in their radios for mutual aid purposes which is quite normal and are hearing that.

beg to differ 154.355 Albert twp. montmorecy co is in data base but will not recieve only on analog, 154.415 greenwood twp oscoda co will only hit on analog but their fire ground 153.890 is shown as primary

Both road cooms from Montmorency and Oscoda co show up as MARINE freq's

I assume by now you have your scanner? Any luck programming it? My offer is out there. I know its complicated, but seeing your a premium subscriber you can use freescan to get the info from the database and send to your 996P2.

Your the only one who has mentioned any of these issues for a few years.

Clearly you must be using a favorites list only and not the full database option, for whatever reason at least for sure with your road commissions, in sentinel you must have changed the service tag for them to Marine. Go into sentinel and put it back to Public Works, send to your radio. Fixed.
The other items might be the same issue, so go through it thoroughly for other issues to fix.

If you want to address those issues you can start a new thread and go from there and others can also assist with the problems your having with your favorites list, otherwise your derailing the thread.

Updating the database in sentinel does NOT update your favorites list. You need to check over your list and make the fixes.

Again double checked the settings as you stated, not using fav list an have updated monthly. thanks for the standard reply
