Well we've got a lot of things going on in Rowan County system wise right now. I'll just hit on some of the high spots, and the things I'm sharing with you can be found on the Rowan County Telecomm Board website.
- The current TRS in use in our county is a mixed mode Motorola Type II system. The current plan in place is for us to make a complete cut over to a fully digital P25 system in January 2014. We will also be going from a single site system to a 4 site system. As of right now it will most likely be a Simulcast system.
- Site locations will include the current main site, Young's Mountain, High Rock Lake/Pooletown area (possibly co locating on the new VIPER site on Catfish Rd), and somewhere in the North Kannapolis area. There was a possibly location identified but it wasn't a good site because of tower loading concerns. Other locations for erecting a new tower are being explored.
- Narrowbanding for VHF paging on RFD (County Fire) DISP, and EMS DISP is being worked on and the county has gotten a license extension until June of this year. Equipment is being installed as we speak.
Those are just the highlights for some of the things on the horizon. As more talkgroups are converted to digital I'll make sure to get them submitted to be added to the database.
