The Royal Malaysia Police (RMP), are currently building a multi-site, Project 25 TRS. This system will consist of 200 sites strategically located across the country. Likewise, it is believed that simulcast cells will be used in large metropolitan areas. The system and supporting infrastructure is being built by Motorola, and will use the ASTRO 7.6 platform. Currently, the RMP will deploy 50,000 radios, but this number can be raised substantially when the system is upgraded to ASTRO 7.11.
Officials traveled from Kuala Lumper, to the state of Michigan to study their current Project 25 TRS, so they could learn more about wide-area trunking technology. Likewise, the RMP will pattern their system after the one in Great Lakes State of Michigan. The system should be online sometime in 2012.
