Also, the people that are complaining about the text size being too small need to learn to use their browser. They can increase the text size themselves.

The majority of the text does not respond to the text size setting.

If you mean use magnification, that usually does not stop the scrolling problems.

I am not complaining about Lindsay's site, as he is right many sites are going to fixed layouts and widths.

My complaint is more generic. The whole idea of HTML is a page description language that allows the display terminal to format the contents as best for that device/user. Web programmers have generally given up on this goal in the hopes of making their sites look consistent and eliminate the issues involved with variable width pages.

. . .We're evolving folks....

Some of us that are still running 800x600 aren't though.. :)

I don't run 800x600, but I do often open RR in a smaller than screen window.

It would be nice if it wrapped, but I understand both sides,

I was telling my wife today that after so much hard work, all the *****ing and complaining was so demoralizing.

And she said... I bet that 209,000 of your members love the changes, and 100 of them hate the changes. But that 100 will *****, moan, complain, whine, and generally make lots of noise, while the others just are saying to themselves "holy crap this is awesome"

I appreciate everyones feedback and comments. Almost all the comments. And don't let my comments to some here dissuade you for identifying problems on the site. I want to hear from you.

I realize the fixed width is an issue for some - but it's time has come and it is staying.

I'm off to drink some beer, and prepare for tomorrow's likely volatile market.

Wives are so damn smart it's annoying!

Lindsay,

I am sure most of the community loves what you guys have done here, you can't please everyone.

Out of all the forums I visit you are probably one of the best administrators out there.

If you try and email some of the big forums admins on the internet you will never even get a response, no care for what the community feels and wishes.

Great job and enjoy the beer (Actually sounds good)

Ron

The dropdown menus seem to lose their way, as shown in the pic. This happens when the browser is full-screen, and then I un-maximize the browser. Clicking 'Forums' produces the result you see.

Once I re-maximize my browser, then all is well. This happened on Firefox and Chrome.

Lindsay,

totally forgot that the new version was going live today... after i selected it from my favorites i got distracted by my girlfriend, and when i looked at the screen after the page loaded i thought that there was something wrong, as in i was at a site other than RR, then i read a couple of words and my brain fart finally ended.

looks amazing, you have done a great job on the new version

2. FCC County Listings now "remember" your last settings for each county...

I noticed that! I love that!

For what its worth, I bought this laptop I'm using in 2003 and 800X600 is the LOWEST resolution that it will display. It looks great on 1280X800 that I'm running.

I am having a lot of trouble with the drop-downs too. Clearing the cache made them go from not working at all to working sometimes. They seem to be intermittent with no real pattern to it. Using FF No problems with IE7

Am I crazy or could one search for frequencies with a string in the old version of the site? The new version has lots of nifty filters and search features if you know the frequency you want, but isn't that a little backwards? In most cases if I knew the frequency I wouldn't need the database.

Is there a place to enter search terms and get back a list and I'm just missing it??

Drop down show up in wrong place if you go from full screen to a window, or window to full screen until the page is refreshed or you change pages. IE7

EDIT: ANY re-size has this problem. If you adjust the window width the drop-downs do not show correctly.

I blame it on the fixed width! (Just kidding)

My problem is that they just don't work a lot of the time. I click on them and nothing happens. It is hit and miss, no real pattern I can pin down.

Things I've noticed:

1. The Contact link at the top of the page results in a 404:
The requested URL /apps/contact/ was not found on this server.

2. Last login time (even after logging off and logging back in):
You last visited: 12-31-1969 at 06:00 PM

3. There is no Logout link at the top when you're in the forums.

Question that led me to discover all of the above:
Is there any way for premium subscribers to opt out of the advertising?

All this on Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.5; en-US; rv:1.9.0.6) Gecko/2009011912 Firefox/3.0.6

I am not a premium subscriber yet, when I search for a frequency in the database by entering the frequency and state the next page comes up and says that this feature is only available to premium subscribers yet under that it lists all the frequency licensees for the state.

Site looks great though!
