I looked but couldn't find anything on this.

I want to have a favorites list of all the Amateur Radio Repeaters in Virginia. I have the data from RR, but cannot figure out the way to get it into a favorites list without typing them in individually. I can port as a comma delimited or delimited or text file, but I cannot figure out the Favorites List hierarchy or layout. Is there somewhere it's listed or do I need to download from RR in a specific format for the 436 to read in one of the Favorites List?

I have built the Favorites list and edited a couple of them, so I I have been able to manipulate the hpd files and even the config file, but the layout is not as easy to figure out.

Thanks,

Patrick

There isn't any easy way to do this, at least not right. Ideally, you want to have the repeaters tagged with GPS coordinates so that the scanner only scans repeaters in reception range. I've created a Favorite List with repeaters in PA, MD, VA, WV, and DC (link is below). Each state is in its own System, and standalone repeaters in each town are in a Department tagged with the GPS coordinates of the town. So as you're driving around in the area covered, the scanner will automatically scan appropriate repeaters if you have GPS connected. Networked repeater systems are separate Systems, with individual repeaters configured as Sites.

I don't have all the repeaters for every state in the file, but perhaps the file will be of use to you for structure and organization, if nothing else.

Just cut and paste, get them in the same column orientation and they will C&P in.

One hint, I usually need to add 1 or 2 empty rows in the new fav. list to get it to work.

- as long as you do not need coords. -

Another way - if you have Proscan it will do a RR import by using the page address (RID or STID- I think). It might have coords. as well.

Favorites List

Thanks to both for your replies. I see now that I have to cut and paste through Sentinel by editing a favorites list that exists. So I will experiment. I thought I could edit the .hpd files, but can't do figure out the layout. I looked at the files Uniden has available to practice cutting and pasting, but I can't figure out how they arrange them, so I'll use the Sentinel software and do it that way.

Thanks for all the input.

You should be able to cut and paste one column at a time, from your *.csv file. Highlight a vertical column, of frequencies, or names, in the csv, and copy to the clipboard.
In Sentinel, you can add one blank line, and only click on the field that you want to paste (frequency, name, whatever),
Then paste that column, and copy your next column to the clipboard, then select the corresponding field on the first line, and paste the next column.

Once you've done that, you can go back into Sentinel, set the service type for the top line entry. After setting it ( and/or the alert color, if you want that to be tagged), copy that field only (the service type, or color choice) to the clipboard. Then, with that top choice selected, scroll don to the last entry, hold down the <Shift> key, and click the bottom line's field. You'll get a pop-up to set it, but just hit cancel. With that entire column selected, paste the clipboard to it & all the selected items in the columns will be set to the same service type (or alert color) as the top one.

Go to the main dB and find the listing. Right-click on the system and select APPEND TO FAVORITES.

Or maybe find a local group that has someone who has the list who can give you an HPE file to import.
