I picked my first personal digital scanner a Uniden HP436 this past Monday In Calgary with the DMR upgrade. Within hours of playing, I hate to say it, I'm extremely disappointed, not with the radio but with the built in RRDB updated Monday

I did a custom search in the usual bands 150-170, 410-440, 450-470
850-869 and lastly area around AFRRCS

I was shocked to find numerous
- DMR CON / CAP plus systems
- One channel DMR frequency
- P25 network or single frequency
Not listed in the RRDB

The following day heading back to my home near FT McMurray I made an overnight stop in Edmonton and again found more of the same

Some of these Trunk / DMR / P25 or one Frequencies sites discovered during a quick two hours of searching In my opinion would be worth monitoring. They range from hospital security to Sheriffs escorts even Alberta leg security and Remand centres

Browsing through the threads in the WestCanadian section of RR I see numerous posts by members in Calgary or Edmonton, you know we're I'm going with this, You can't tell me those members have not run across these sites or Frequencies

I suspect there is some reluctance submitting information to RR and my opinion this is a major slap in the face to Uniden and Whistler

Uniden and Whistler probably pay a royalty to RR for the usage of this information in my opinion not worth 2 cents
I wish there was a way to opt out of using the RRDB feature and get a discount on the scanner

Bottom line unless RR finds a way to get members to contribute we might as well to go back to the day of pay paper frequency guides

For the nformation I discovered In a few short hours is too incomplete and not worth submitting

Do you even realize how many towns, counties, states and provinces are in these 2 countries? It takes users like you and I to populate the RRDB. This is a hobby, like anything else, and it takes people to make it work. It's too bad that you don't seem to be up to the challenge to be a real radio enthusiast. Maybe in time, you'll change your mind and contribute. Technology is changing fast everywhere, things become outdated quickly and everyone benefits from other contributions.

nice job Chris calling out a new member who has a valid point!!!

For your information Edmonton and Calgary are the two biggest cities in the province and we're most of the RR members live and he has a point. We're talking about two cities notb every little milk stop on the Shady express

From what FTMAC wrote he or she was in these cities for short period of time and probably has notes scribbled everywhere. I'm happy to see FTMAC got DMR loaded with posting what's the password
I suspect once this new member gets familiar with DMR systems and comfortable not to look like a fool
we will see more
