I picked my first personal digital scanner a Uniden HP436 this past Monday In Calgary with the DMR upgrade. Within hours of playing, I hate to say it, I'm extremely disappointed, not with the radio but with the built in RRDB updated Monday
I did a custom search in the usual bands 150-170, 410-440, 450-470
850-869 and lastly area around AFRRCS
I was shocked to find numerous
- DMR CON / CAP plus systems
- One channel DMR frequency
- P25 network or single frequency
Not listed in the RRDB
The following day heading back to my home near FT McMurray I made an overnight stop in Edmonton and again found more of the same
Some of these Trunk / DMR / P25 or one Frequencies sites discovered during a quick two hours of searching In my opinion would be worth monitoring. They range from hospital security to Sheriffs escorts even Alberta leg security and Remand centres
Browsing through the threads in the WestCanadian section of RR I see numerous posts by members in Calgary or Edmonton, you know we're I'm going with this, You can't tell me those members have not run across these sites or Frequencies
I suspect there is some reluctance submitting information to RR and my opinion this is a major slap in the face to Uniden and Whistler
Uniden and Whistler probably pay a royalty to RR for the usage of this information in my opinion not worth 2 cents
I wish there was a way to opt out of using the RRDB feature and get a discount on the scanner
Bottom line unless RR finds a way to get members to contribute we might as well to go back to the day of pay paper frequency guides
For the nformation I discovered In a few short hours is too incomplete and not worth submitting
